Participants will learn common Co-Occurring Disorders in youth, how to recognize co-occurring issues, and where to make a referral for services. Participants will learn strategies for navigating student ambivalence about their substance use in order to help students identify their reinforcers, identify healthy pro-social activities, and utilize school supports. The training will teach concrete skills for engaging students in a developmentally appropriate conversation about substance use through Motivational Interviewing strategies, Stage of Change Theory, and principles of the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA).
